THE STORY
It was 1647, and the heavily pregnant Trijntje, like her husband, tried to calm the bull. However, she was mercilessly gored by its sharp horns. This resulted in an accidental cesarean section, which led to the birth of the child. Trijntje and her husband did not survive, but the child did. Nine months later, the child died. The family was buried in the church and thus became known as the Bullekerk.
